GET THE FACTS AND EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO
VOTE
If I move, do I need to register again?
Yes, if you move, you need to change your address by
completing a new Voter Registration Application and noting the address change.
You can mail the application to the county where you now reside and they will
notify the previous county where you voted. Also, you do need to change your
address if you moved within the same county, as your polling location may have
changed. You also need to re-register if you have a name change.
How do I know where I vote?
Once you complete your voter registration application and mail
it in, you will receive your voter registration card. Your polling location
where you vote will be indicated on the voter registration card.
I have registered, but I have not received my voter registration card.
What do I do?
If you have not received your voter registration card before
election day, you can call the County Clerk where you are registered and ask
them why you have not received your card. They can tell you where you need to go
to vote.
I have been convicted of a felony or a
misdemeanor, can I register to vote?
Citizens living in Missouri
must register in order to vote. Any U.S. citizen 17 years and 6 months of age or
older, if a Missouri resident may register and vote except:
- A person who is adjudged
incapacitated
- A person who is confined
under sentence of imprisonment
- A person who is on
probation or parole after conviction of a felony until finally discharged
- A person after
conviction of a felony or misdemeanor connected with the right of suffrage (RSMo
115.133) (I.E. a person that has had a conviction for tampering with
elections or it’s procedures)
- After a person has fully
completed their obligation with the state or federal government and are no
longer on parole, they may simply fill out a registration card to vote.
(This applies to Kansas and Missouri)
Do I have to register by party affiliation (as a Democrat, Republican,
etc.)?
Missourians do not register by party affiliation. However, in
Kansas, you may chose whether to register by party
affiliation or not.
